In reply to <a href="https://gamewardbound.com/cafe-baras-solo-play/#comment-9598">jeff</a>.

I just glanced through the rules a few times, and I realized one very important thing doesn't seem to be covered: When serving a customer, do those cards get discarded? I only discard the customer card and continue building up the tableau. I treat it like I now serve this coffee or soup indefinitely, and have enough for everyone. But... I'm honestly not sure if that's correct!

Judging by my scores and the tableaus of final plays, I think that's right. Is that how you're playing, or do you discard everything to serve a customer? See if it works better when you only discard the customer card you're serving and build up your tableau. Either that, or I played entirely incorrectly. Hope you enjoy it, though, even if it's just for the art and setting!

I just picked this up as a gift for my partner's birthday, because we'd heard good things about it and it looked cute. As you stated, the art, setting, and theme are adorable and the puns are cute. We struggled understanding the rules in our first play, wishing there had been an example turn played out included at the end of the rulebook. The two times we've played we both got stuck with no money to add cards to our counter (tableau) and no way to collect money (we were down to our original counter card). We couldn't see a way to move forward with the game and the rules didn't offer any solution. We will give this several more plays before making a final decision on keeping it or passing it on. As always, enjoyed your review!
