Well said! I'll occasionally keep an eye on my dice and what might happen, but agreed that it's all about the story for me. I enjoy the higher difficulty settings, too. It's awesome to feel like you have no chance of winning, yet in those rare instances, victory comes about right at the very end. So satisfying!

The luck can be annoying at times, but I often weave that into the storyline. You also nailed it with the other volumes, at least in my personal opinion. The added mechanics can be very distracting from the main stories I create, and I prefer to have as little to keep track of as possible... Mostly because I have all sorts of little ideas and connected stories going on!

Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts about why this game is so unique and great!

The immersion factor is the main attraction to me. The cards and flavor text paint an excellent story and I spend far more time advancing the story than performing probability calculations.

The 3-hour play time is another plus because when I want to play GoK, I want to play just that game and for the whole evening. Being immersed in one story and nothing else distracting me after the game helps my mind wander and develop the story further.

Having the ability to make the game harder is another plus because I prefer to lose roughly 75% when I play solo games.

The luck factor is why GoK is not one of my top 10 solitaire games. I do pull it out once or twice a year and usually play it exclusively for 2-5 days.

I am not interested in the follow-up games, at least at this time. I bought GoK six years ago and played it roughly two dozen times and it still paints good stories for me. I have doubts I will find the follow-up games more interesting because the added mechanics may distract me from the story, and the story is why I play GoK.

There is no other game like this in my collection.
