In reply to Kristopher. Good question! In the top section with tabbed sections, you’ll find this in the pentacles description: All “faces” are the same as cards 2-10 since the value doesn’t matter. Effectively, these cards are played like all other numerical pentacles. I treat them more as general cards, ignoring the values and just pairing them up when they’re used to hire specialists. Maybe I missed it, but how do you play the pentacle court cards? Since the pentacles don’t have a particular value, there’s nothing to double.

In reply to mayybebabyy. Part 1 covers special cards, including aces and face cards. Face cards double the value of a card of a respective suit, but a pentacle card must be discarded in order to pay for this specialist. The value of a face card doesn't matter: All 16 function in exactly the same way. Hope that helps you out!

Your excellent 3 part play guide helped me make sense of the more confusing rules in this game. I just discovered it and after reading the official rules and watching a play through on YouTube, your guide made it clear.
