Cozy Stickerville: This is My Home and Other Village Edicts

Build a village from the ground up, making decisions about where to construct and whose stories to focus on in Cozy Stickerville.
Still in the mood for coziness at my solo game table, I moved onto one of my newest arrivals that had barely settled on a shelf… Cozy Stickerville! This intriguing premise offers a custom experience about placing stickers and making choices to guide a village and its inhabitants. I was certainly interested to learn more about it, and in no time, I was ready to play!
Spoiler Alert
There are some components shown from the first year. As this is a game of surprises and unique experiences, I’ve done my best to keep things at a top-level without much detail, yet there are spoilers of what you may see during your first play. Many aspects are things that might show up, not necessarily during your first year, but this post may be worth skipping!

Setting Up the Map
Before the first year, a number of stickers may be placed anywhere on the map. Some restrictions exist, yet the main idea is to be creative and build an area that looks lovely!
Naturally, I focused on my house and gave myself the coziest spot to settle. Near a grove of trees and the river bank, my cottage had a delightful view of everything.
I should note that it’s very hard to make any mistakes, yet I’ve never had a good relationship with stickers. Ha!
The mechanics seemed quite simple, and I was interested to dive into this experience to see what might happen.
Rabbit Residents
Hello, Calico Critters! I continue to randomly pick a family to add some cheer to most of my games, and these rabbits were just perfect. I spotted a pair amongst these trees!
The freedom to place stickers anywhere added to the fun, although gameplay was mostly limited to making choices or allocating resources to specific actions. Not bad, though.
With the first year’s deck, I loved getting involved with the story and getting attached to pretty much every sticker.
I was building a history of this village with little moments I could call back to, hopefully during the later years of play!
Carrot Patch Rabbit
In a singularly perfect moment, a story popped up about an animal in the local carrot patch… A rabbit! And to make it funnier, food was stolen at some point. Culprit identified.
Ha ha! It was wonderful to feel so attached to the events and the ways I could build on the stories. Even the stickers that didn’t feel too important had something to add.
As this was my first play, I took my time and enjoyed those early magical moments spent with this unique system.
This first year was amazing and gave me so much to think about as my village slowly started to take shape.
Short Paragraphs
Another positive aspect was the writing, which was short but still interesting. I had a few laughs, a few eye rolls, and plenty of feelings of wonder. Just how much was here?!
It was neat to see the start of what I imagined to be lengthy storylines that would expand every year, but only if I wanted to maintain those as the focus of my own story.
Tracking happiness was nice, too, as were the titles. If I was only ever labeled as lucky, that seemed good enough. Ha!
Zooming in on the little moments was fun, as was taking a step back to admire my sticker placements. Very pretty!
Cautiously Optimistic About Coziness
With the game steeped in a cozy vibe, I was excited about it, although I have a confession… I really dislike stickers in board games. I’m someone who likes to perfectly align edges, and it’s hard to accept that’s not always possible! The forgiving sense of sticker placement was quite helpful, yet I had a little laugh about how I never associate stickers with being cozy.
It also felt like an interesting introduction to the system. Cards stuck around to provide more options, and I hoped these would remain at a manageable level. With a single action to use each turn, the end of my first year presented me with plenty of unexplored stickers and cards. There was also nothing stopping me from playing nonstop… Except time. Ha ha!
Still, I went in with cautious optimism about the experience, wanting to give it a chance even with my inherent dislike of stickers. Maybe I could find a way to go with the flow and accept any mistakes with misalignments… I’ve had a unique talent for always getting something wrong. Luckily, I usually laugh it off, but stickers can be a stressful element for me.
A Bird’s Eye View
It was awesome to see the way the village changed, as I could visually keep track of it all with the new stickers. Empty areas were filled in, and existing stickers changed.
Residents also started to settle in, often with choices for me to make about who would reside in a new house. Neat!
The different stickers also made a difference, with some matching the terrain and others with a clear background. Layering them added a lot in a very unexpected sense!
But the deck of cards for each year is short, and my time began to dwindle down with so much more to do.
Shocking Development
My goodness! In another hilarious and accidentally perfect moment, the sticker with a pair of rabbits turned into a partially smoldering mess after a mysterious event.
Although the rabbits disappeared from the sticker, never fear! This village had a home for everyone, and I figured they settled in somewhere else. Actually, remember that.
I was excited about the village and the many upcoming actions I wanted to take. There was a lot to explore!
It seemed a little early to make a final assessment, yet I thoroughly enjoyed this initial play. Onto the next years!

Success! Well, there really isn’t a way to fail, yet it was nice to reach the end of the first year feeling triumphant. The village had buildings and residents, along with plenty of possibilities for what might come next. Would I work on my fishing skills, find ways to plant more flowers, or chop down trees? Better yet, what building decision was next? I eagerly awaited the next year of this budding village!

+ Pros (Positives)
- Choosing story moments and stickers is wonderful, allowing the village to feel like a unique and custom experience.
- Many decisions come with additional cards or story chapters which remain into the next year for ongoing narratives.
- Residents bring their own stories, yet they can be explored individually to steer the focus of the main characters.
- Some paragraphs are filled with humor that may result in a laugh or comical groan, although most are delightful.
- It’s wonderful to see the village take shape, both at a zoomed-in story level and a larger scale visual perspective.
- Very few rules exist, so the narrative remains the focal point with important decisions that may return in the future.
– Cons (Negatives)
- The sticker quality is excellent, but peeling some of them out of the middle of pages can be a little challenging.
- With so many things to do and so few actions, it can seem like some elements might never be wrapped up by the end.
- Some stickers are peeled off and removed, which takes a little effort and may damage other nearby stickers.
- Gameplay can feel limited to making decisions without a lot of work in strategizing, although this may be by design.
